| I can't get videos downloaded or set up on my computer so that I can play them correctly. Whenever I open one to view in a program, the video is only downloaded in small segments so that it plays in short intervals as it is downloaded through my dial-up connection. I have the Windows Media Player, but that apparently isn't set up to play videos from the Internet. Anyway, it doesn't enable me to solve this problem. What program or set up do I need in order to play selected videos correctly on my computer? I don't want to watch a lot of videos, but there are some that I would like to see from time to time. Any help with this matter will be appreciated. Bob |

Hi Bob,
It could be that the file is made for streaming on high speed internet and stalls when you view in dial up.
What is the link to the video file? We can look at the file extension ending and determine if it can be downloaded.

Peter,
All of the videos that I try to play encounter the same problem. I can't get any video to download and play without the interruptions. This may be due to my dial-up connection, but there should be some way to download a video and then play it without the interruptions. I appreciate your help with this problem.

Hm.... Did you try to right click, save target as over the link?
Some extensions will allow you to save the whole file. However, if the file you download takes a few seconds to download (on dial up), you only downloaded a streaming shortcut, not the actual video.
However if it is several MB in size, you might actually have the video.

Peter,
The next time that I see a video that I want to play, I'll try to save it with the right click control. I don't know why I would already have a video that I just spotted on the Internet or that was just presented to me in an email message or forum post. I don't think that I have any videos stored on my computer. I haven't made any of my own. Is there not any setting that I can selected on my Media Player program that will enable me to download a complete video before I start to play it? I'll keep playing around with this program or others to see if I can find some way to play videos on my computer. If you have some specific instructions that may help me with this operation, that is what I need. Thanks.

Bob,
We need to see the exact video file to better assist you. Some files can't be downloaded, only streamed (which becomes a problem for dial up users)
Just let us know the URL of the page or video file you are trying to stream or download.
Thanks! _________________ Peter J. Louie
